Deep within the mesmerizing rolling hills, lived a boy named Shepherd. His life was pure, simple, and honest. His main role was essentially to care for his herd of sheep.
Their soft bleating and the murmuring of the gales across the lone tree on the mountaintop were his constant co-dwellers. Day upon day, guarding his wards inculcated in him a feeling of calm satisfaction.
But, there were at times moments of solitude, when the shepherd boy would pine for company. In one such instance because of sheer boredom, the shepherd boy orchestrated a mischievous plot.
Narratives of wolves hunting on sheep had been around for a while in the town. So, the boy decided to leveraged this fear check here and played a prank on the townsfolk.
One afternoon he dashed into the village yelling “Wolf! A wolf is attacking my sheep!” The frightened villagers ran up the hills to offer assistance but found no beast.

Frustrated and alone, the boy fought against the wolf but could rescue only few of his sheep. Heartbroken, he returned to the town only to be met with a scolding on honesty and the consequences of dishonesty.
His tale of this shepherd boy has been passed down generations as a mediaeval parable to teaching the value of honesty, the implications of dishonesty and the perils of false alarms. Moreover, it highlights how trust once violated, is tough to regain. It's a story as appropriate today as it was in the past.
